Trip down memory lane ...

Hey y'all. Bit of a cold, windy, rainy first day of Winter aye?

I had no intention on leaving the house today so I decided to stay in my pyjamas and dig through some old photos. Looking through old photographs always makes me feel nostalgic. I miss the days where the only worry I had was waking up in time to watch Sailor Moon and Rug Rats in the morning, no bills to pay and no pressure with university and work. Guess that's just a part of growing up.

I always have a good laugh when looking at old photos. Love seeing how much you've changed over the years, those old haircuts that make you cringe and some trendy 90's outfits. Definitely found some pics that I'd like to burn before my parents bring them out to embarrass me on my 21st next year haha

I'm a Mummy!

Well not to someone in the form of a human but to a four legged furry animal. A tiger to be exact. You're probably like WTF, as if, but it's true! ;)

Three weeks ago a door-to-door sales man came to my house. Normally I would politely decline whatever they were trying to sell me but this young fella was from Australia Zoo, and frankly I'm a sucker for animals so I listened to what he had to say.

He was on a mission to find people who wanted to sponsor/adopt an animal. Australia Zoo receives no government funding so having animal adopters really helps the zoo with their ongoing fight for wildlife conservation by allowing them to concentrate on breeding programs, state of the art wildlife exhibits, vital rehabilitation programs, veterinary requirements and general husbandry needs.

After finding out how much the zoo relies on donations and admission fees for the zoo, I decided I would adopt an animal. You spend $50 to adopt an animal and then you receive a certificate, a picture of the adopted animal, a letter of appreciation, a fact sheet and a signed picture of the Irwin family.

$50 is honestly nothing when I think about how much the zoo needs donations etc. I mean, I would have probably spent it on more makeup or clothes that I really don't need anymore of. Knowing that my measly $50 helps the animals makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside haha.

So say hello to my baby Mika! Mika is a Bengal tiger. She was born at Mogo Zoo on the 18th of July 2007 and was the runt of the litter. She has a brother called Charlie and a sister called Sunita. You can tell her apart from her siblings as she has a kink in the end of her tail. She is the most active and playful out of the litter, especially when it comes
to playing in the pool that they have at Australia Zoo.

So I did a little research and found this video of Mika and her siblings shortly after they arrived at Australia Zoo. Mind you this was a couple of years ago when they were 19 weeks old. I believe Mika was the first to jump:

Cute aye!

If you would like to adopt an animal. head over to the Australia Zoo website. There are many animals that you can choose to adopt including zebras, kangaroos, tigers, cheetahs, koalas, crocodiles, alligators, turtles, snakes etc and soon you'll be a mummy or daddy too! ;) lol

If you are from a different country than myself, I'm sure a zoo around you would do similar things.

Bye lovelies! xx

Sea World!

Aloha! <3

Yesterday I took four of my younger siblings to Sea World on the Gold Coast. Noah, another one of my younger siblings, has been in hospital for the past couple of days getting injections in his legs to help him walk more comfortably. Those who read my 'hope bracelet' post would know why he needs them. Anyway my other younger siblings have been sitting at home bored out of their minds for the last few days and since the holidays end on Monday and they all go back to school, I thought I'd be a lovely sister and take them to Sea World ;)

It was the first time I'd even driven to the Gold Coast with no parents telling me which way to go but we made it there with no GPS and didn't even get lost. Since it's an hour and a half drive from where we live, I was pretty proud!

We spent the day looking at all the animals, watching the dolphin, seal and jet-ski shows, visiting dinosaur island and going on rides. It was a really enjoyable day!

Below is a quick film of compiled photos and videos (pretty dodgy but whatevs).

Birthday & Easter Weekend!

Hellooooooo!

How are you lovely people?

For those who read my latest post you would be aware that on Friday I turned 20! So it has been a full on weekend. Friday I was awoken nice and early by my little sister jumping on me yelling 'it's your birthday Nicole, wake up you're old!'. Just what I wanted to hear haha. Anyway I was blindfolded and taken outside where my present was revealed on the back of my Dads ute, which was a new double bed which I'm super happy with, because lets face it how many 20 year olds are still sleeping in a single bed? I also got given a Stila palette, the Lauren Conrad Style book and loads of money (shopping spreeee yay!). So I spent my birthday morning at home building my bed with my Dad and had a few relatives over. I'm literally in love with my bed, so much room for activities!!! ;) haha

After lunch my three besties picked me up where we drove to Bribie Island beach and had a swim, tanned and perved on the babes! ;) Every time we attempted to have a beach trip last Summer it rained or something came up, so this was the first successful beach trip in a while for us. Must of had some birthday luck.

We left the beach and headed back to my friends house for presents, pre-drinks, tacos and a good old game of kings cup before we went to the Broncos vs Storms rugby game at Suncorp. We then realised it was Good Friday and couldn't eat beef, so we actually didn't eat anything which meant we got drunk a lot quicker (bad idea lol). It was present time and again I was blindfolded. I was a little more scared this time being blindfolded because my friends are crazier than my parents so I was half expecting a stripper to pop out. They told me to take the blindfold off and standing there in front of me was this handsome fellow.

My friends also baked me a cake and gave me a hair-salon voucher because I told them a while ago that I really want to get my hair ombred. God I love my friends! haha

We had such a good night at the football. Happened to get a couple of free drinks from some cute guys which is always a plus. Yay for being the only young girls in our section of the stadium who weren't accompanied by any males and yay for it being my birthday! haha Mind you my team lost 26-32 which was a bit of a bummer, but they did play extremely well considering the Broncos were versing a team which is currently number one on the ladder. We left the footy pretty much straight after and went home because one of my friends had work early the next morning.

Saturday I was nursing a hangover until the afternoon. I also went out for a birthday lunch with uni friends and then went out on the town Saturday night for more birthday celebrations.

This morning (Sunday & Easter) I was definitely over birthday celebrations and drinking. I spent the day with family as it is Easter and had a nice barbie at the beach. Built sandcastles with my niece and nephew, went for a swim and played some beach cricket. It was lovely to spend the day with all my family. So much chocolate was eaten so a run is definitely in order tomorrow.

Hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend! I certainly did.

Bye! xx

Hope Bracelet

Before I get to the main point of this post I think it's important for me to tell you the reasoning behind it.

Two years ago I went through an extremely hard time. I found out that my brother who was six at the time had a very rare and incurable syndrome called Sanfilippo (MPSIII). We always knew he had something wrong with him, however because it was such a rare syndrome it was hard to diagnose. Long story short he will eventually lose his ability to talk, walk and eat by himself and his life span is drastically lowered, with the majority of Sanfilippo children not living past their teenage years. He means everything to me <3

Two weeks ago I was stalking one of my favourite blogs Zoella when I came across a post about a 'rose gold bracelet' that she bought online. I've wanted to get a tattoo with my brothers name 'Noah' on my wrist for a while now but I am the biggest chicken ever and every time I go to book the appointment I back out. So when I saw Zoe's bracelet I thought it would be a perfect substitution of a tattoo until I build the courage to actually get it done.

The website Etsy is where I ordered my bracelet from. Etsy is a site where  small businesses can make and sell specific items. These bracelets have words bent into them such as love, faith, hope and you can even customise one and have a word of your choice. I chose the hope bracelet, as all I can do is hope for a cure for this horrible syndrome. So yesterday my bracelet arrived and I am very happy with it!

So happy that I have ordered another but this time a customised one with 'Noah' bent into it. You should definitely check out the shop on the Etsy website and also check out Zoe's blog, it's fab!

Adios xx

Queen of Procrastination!

Bonjour! It's that time of the semester for me where I have three major assessments due yet here I am doing everything else but assignments.  I am the queen of procrastination!

This morning I avoided my assignments by going shopping and buying a lot of stuff I really didn't need like nail polish, fairy lights, a jewellery stand and an Eiffel tower, as you do.

Right now I am waiting for my cupcakes to bake, writing this blog and googling this awesome marathon that I want to do next month. Yay for multitasking. Boo for still not doing assignments.

So yeah, next month at the Gold Coast their is this 5k marathon called 'The Colour Run'. I've seen pictures of it before on Tumblr and thought it looked amazing. I thought it was only an American thing so I was buzzing when I found out it was coming to Australia :)

All money raised goes to charity too which is fab! I'm not the most athletic person around so I better get training. Anyone who lives in Australia should definitely look into it, it's for a great cause and you'll totes have loads of fun!

I suck at conclusions sooooo

Concert crazy!

In my last post one of the facts about myself was that I am a bit of a concert whore.

So recently I was looking through all my old concert tickets and realised how crazy my obsession was. Altogether I have been to 16 concerts costing a total of $1556. I also still have two other concerts I'm going to later in the year which are P!nk and One Direction (where Harry Styles and I will make eye contact and it will be love at first sight).  Somebody send me to concert rehab please!

I've been obsessed with concerts ever since my first one back in 2009 which was Britney Spears. (I was totally heartbroken when I found out she lip synced the whole gig though #wahhh) My favourite concert I have been to was my most recent one, Ed Sheeran. He is the most talented musician ever, he actually sounds better live than he does on his records. You can tell music is everything to him.

Tragically I'm one of those girls who dances around their room to singers/bands so when my favourites come to Brisbane I obviously jump at the chance of seeing them. There's literally nothing better than seeing your favourite singers perform live.

Here are some really bad quality photos of the concerts I've been to:

Top to bottom:
- Britney Spears with opening act DJ Havana Brown
- Taylor Swift with opening act Gloriana
- Lady Gaga with opening act Semi Precious Weapons
- Jason Derulo with opening act Trinity
- Usher with opening acts The Potbellez and Trey Songz
- Justin Bieber with opening act Dash & Will
- Chris Brown with opening acts DJ Havana Brown, Jessica Mauboy, Stan Walker and Justice Crew
- Supafest music festival. Artist include Snoop Dogg, Nelly, Taio Cruz, Busta Rhymes, T-Pain, Game, Ciara, Keri Hilson, Bow Wow and New Boyz
- Eminem with opening act Lil Wayne and Hilltop Hoods
- Nicki Minaj with opening act Stan Walker
- Hot Chelle Rae with opening acts Cher Lloyd and 5 Seconds of Summer
- 5 Seconds of Summer. Saw twice at their own concert and at HCR
- Reece Mastin with opening act Justice Crew and the Janoskians
- All Time Low with opening acts The Polar Bear Club and Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!
and finallyyyyy
- Ed Sheeran with opening acts Passenger and Gabrielle Aplin

Peace out xx

Oh btw Rihanna has recently announced that she will be touring Australia later on this year so I am considering buying tickets to see her too. hahaha

To go or not to go? That is the question

UPDATE: Rihanna is a no go, but in the last week I have bought Olly Murs and Bruno Mars tickets. HELP! haha
